Conversations that strengthen teams
Practise clearer team communication, constructive feedback, and shared agreements in a program shaped around your team’s needs.
Build understanding before moving to action
Team communication is more than exchanging updates. People need to understand the same goal, raise concerns clearly, and know what happens next. Conversations that strengthen teams focuses on the everyday discussions that make collaboration easier: agreeing priorities, giving feedback, asking for help, and clarifying decisions.
This program can be shaped around your team's work and current challenges. The final scope and delivery arrangements are agreed before participation.
Who this program is for
- Teams that want clearer communication across roles or functions.
- Team leaders who want more useful check-ins and feedback conversations.
- Colleagues who need to coordinate work, surface obstacles, and reduce unclear handovers.
You do not need a management title to contribute. The emphasis is on practical habits everyone in the team can use.
What you will practise
- Describe a situation with observable facts before making assumptions.
- Ask questions that reveal different perspectives and missing information.
- Listen, summarise, and check that everyone understands the same point.
- Give specific feedback about an action and its impact, then discuss a useful next step.
- Close a conversation with an agreed owner, outcome, and review point.
Suggested learning journey
1. Notice the communication pattern
Use a fictional workplace scenario, or an anonymised example agreed with your team, to identify where expectations become unclear. Separate what happened from how each person interpreted it.
2. Practise a better conversation
Work through a short discussion using questions, active listening, and constructive feedback. Compare different ways of responding and reflect on which approach makes the next step clearer.
3. Turn discussion into an agreement
Record what was decided, who owns each action, what support is needed, and when to review progress. Practise a simple handover that a colleague can repeat in their own words.
4. Choose a team habit to test
Select one small change, such as a clearer meeting close or a shared check-in question. Agree how the team will notice whether it helps and when to revisit it.
Practical outputs to work towards
Depending on the agreed scope, activities can include a conversation checklist, an action-and-decision record, and a small team experiment. These are working tools to adapt, not a promise that every communication issue will be resolved in one session.
Participants should use fictional or anonymised examples rather than disclose confidential personnel matters. This is a development program, not a grievance investigation or a substitute for your organisation's formal processes.
Arrange a program for your team
